For those who arrive early and wish to explore, there are optional activities available in Entebbe. Bird enthusiasts can venture to the renowned botanical gardens or Mabamba swamps to catch a glimpse of the prehistoric shoebill. Alternatively, you can take a stroll through the local markets or explore the modern malls for shopping opportunities.

About Entebbe:

Nestled along the shores of Lake Victoria, Entebbe is a charming town that offers easy exploration on foot or via local boda bodas (motorbike taxis). You can spend your time perusing the markets for souvenirs and crafts, strolling through the Botanical Gardens, or enjoying a leisurely boat cruise on Lake Victoria. Additionally, there's a diverse array of restaurants, bars, and clubs where you can savour local beer, catch a football game, and mingle with the welcoming locals.

Day 2: Zziwa Rhino tracking – Murchison Falls NP

Depart early today and head towards northern Uganda, traversing through farmlands and vast open savannah lands. Your first stop will be at the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking.

Accompanied by your tour guide and game rangers, you will embark on a walk through the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary in search of the rhinos. Along the way, you may encounter various bird species and occasionally spot Uganda kobs, bushbucks, and duikers. Upon sighting the rhinos, you will have the opportunity to observe and track them on foot for approximately one hour. It's worth noting that Uganda's rhino population was decimated by poaching in the late 1980s, but efforts to conserve and protect them have led to a significant increase in numbers, nearing historical levels.

After the rhino tracking experience, proceed to Masindi town for lunch. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Murchison Falls National Park, arriving in the late afternoon. Here, you will drive to the top of the waterfalls, where you can witness the impressive sight of the entire River Nile funneling through a narrow 9-meter crevice before plunging over 40 meters into a thunderous cascade. It's truly an awe-inspiring spectacle.

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Cruise

Murchison Falls National Park offers a variety of guided safari activities from its strategic vantage point. Start your day with an early morning game drive to the Victoria Nile Delta, where you'll embark on a boat trip through this remarkable area abundant with birds and wildlife. Keep an eye out for several endemic species such as the Rothschild’s giraffe, the Shoebill stork, and the red-throated bee-eater. Depending on water levels, you may also enjoy a short walk accompanied by a ranger guide.

During the game drive, you may have the opportunity to spot some of the "Big Five," although rhinos are not present in this area. Common sightings include buffalo and elephants, with lions being particularly prevalent. Your guide will skilfully track these animals during the morning excursion. Additionally, the park is home to a variety of antelope species, including Uganda kob, oribi, Jackson’s hartebeest, Defassa waterbuck, grey duiker, and bushbuck. Look out for Rothschild’s giraffe, leopard, and troops of the rare Patas monkey roaming the grassy plains.

In the afternoon, embark on a scheduled boat trip to the Murchison Falls, with the option to hike to the top of the falls for a breathtaking panoramic view.

The road trip through western Uganda offers captivating scenery, with emerald green banana and tea plantations, cattle ranches, terraced garden slopes, valleys, and hills unfolding outside the large windows of your 4x4 safari Land Cruiser. The landscape resembles a picturesque scene reminiscent of Bali, Switzerland, or Tuscany on a spring morning.

You'll make a lunch stop in Fort Portal, one of Uganda's oldest towns nestled at the base of the Rwenzori Mountains, offering stunning views of the snow-capped peaks. After exploring the town briefly, you'll drive a few miles to your forest lodge for a romantic dinner and a tranquil night's rest.

About Kibale Forest National Park

Kibale National Park boasts some of Uganda's most enchanting and diverse tropical forest landscapes. The park's terrain consists of forest cover, interspersed with patches of grassland and swamp, primarily located on an elevated plateau in the northern and central regions.

Home to a remarkable array of wildlife, Kibale National Park hosts a total of 70 mammal species, including the renowned chimpanzee population, which comprises 13 different species of primates. Additionally, the park boasts a rich birdlife, with over 375 species of birds inhabiting its diverse habitats.

Adjacent to Queen Elizabeth National Park in the south, Kibale forms part of a vital wildlife corridor stretching 180 kilometers from Ishasha, the remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, to Sebitoli in the northern reaches of Kibale.

Exploring the Kibale-Fort Portal area is a highly rewarding experience. Situated near the tranquil Ndali-Kasenda crater area, the park is conveniently located within a half-day's drive of Queen Elizabeth, Rwenzori Mountains, and Semliki National Parks, as well as the Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking

Rise early, enjoy breakfast, and proceed to the briefing point to commence the chimpanzee trekking excursion. Due to the unpredictable duration of the trek, it's essential to carry your lunch pack and several litres of drinking water.

Chimpanzee trekking is an active experience, as you may need to keep pace with the chimps once located, often for up to an hour. Uganda's habituated chimps are known for their lively and uninhibited behaviour, which can include swinging from tree branches, engaging in playful fights, grooming one another, and displaying primal social dynamics. Witnessing these great apes in their natural habitat is sure to evoke a sense of awe and appreciation for humanity.

You'll have the option to choose between the one-hour trekking experience or the longer Chimpanzee Habituation Experience, which can last nearly the entire day. Regardless of your choice, few experiences rival walking alongside wild chimpanzees in an African rainforest during your holiday.

During the morning chimp trek, you may encounter other primates such as the rare L'Hoest's monkey and red colobus monkey, as well as the black & white colobus, red-tailed monkey, blue monkey, olive baboon, and grey-cheeked mangabey.

In the afternoon, embark on an excursion to the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a haven for birdwatchers. Skilled birders may spot up to 50 species during an afternoon nature walk, while lucky visitors might observe more than seven primate species in the treetops. The sanctuary exemplifies a successful community-based approach to natural resource management, benefiting the local residents living within the area.

I am 6 feet tall and 220 lbs. This shirt fit me perfectly in the chest and shoulders. My only complaint is that it is so long! I like to wear polo shirts untucked. This shirt goes completely past my rear end. If I wore it with ordinary shorts, you probably wouldnt be able to see the shorts at all – completely hidden by the shirt. It needs to be 4 to 5 inches shorter in terms of length to suit me. I have many RL polo shirts, and this one is by far the longest. I dont understand why.

The shirt was not the fabric I believed it to be. It says Classic Fit but was made like the older versions, not the soft cotton like my others. I don’t understand how the labels are the same but a completely different shirt. Oh well, stuck with it now.
